Ed’s Pro tip of the week: This week I have a home improvement word game tip for you. Anyone know the difference between a “Bat”, “Batt”, and a “Batten”?
A bat is a half brick. A batt is a section of fiberglass insulation. A batten is a thin strip of wood. If you answered all three correctly … you’re “batting” a thousand!

Ed’s Pro tip of the week: With Thanksgiving here, make sure you’re kind to your garbage disposer to help prevent a dinner disaster. Here are some quick “do’s & don’ts”. Do grind hard food items like chicken bones and olive pits. Don’t grind stringy items like corn husks or celery. Also run plenty of cold water when grinding, not hot water. To help remove strong odors in your disposer, grind up a lemon. Now, that’s what Ed calls some real “sour power”!

Thanks to all my friends at kohler for asking me to attend this weeks special “plumbers” event at the kohler “american club” in wi. We showed about 200 plumbers from across the usa new kohler products that save water, and new products that are changing the industry! On a side note, the social events were fun as well, and those plumbers really know how to potty!

Ed’s Pro tip of the week: I was recently asked how to hook up a personel hand held shower, to your present tub and/or shower. The plumbers trick is to install a “diverter” control just before your existing shower head. Then, the hose for the new hand held shower simply connects to the new diverter valve. With the push of a button you can now use your standard shower head, or your new hand held shower. The key to this project is not to “divert” your attention away from the manufacturers instructions!

Back from our presentation at the big “Kohler Food and Wine” event in Kohler, Wisconsin. Special thanks to Chef Paul and Tracy the wine expert. (There is a fancy name for a wine expert, but I forgot it.) Anyway our “Cooking With Power Tools” was a big hit! We cooked up a nice meal with the help of a power drill, sledge hammer, plumbing torch, and a sawzall! Standing room only for both shows!
